Update: Data Centre Upgrade

Our mandate is to ensure that our data centre infrastructure is upgraded every 3 to 4 years. After many, many months of meticulous planning and preparation our hardware infrastructure upgrade is nearing completion. New more powerful servers, a significantly faster Storage Area Network (the device that all data is stored on) has been implemented so as to continue to provide the best hosted service experience possible. In the next 6 to 12 months we are going to be focusing on upgrading some of the software that drives your hosted desktop. A critical business application, Microsoft Exchange (Hosted Email) is going to be part of this upgrade. Over the next few months we will be building new Hosted Email infrastructure and testing it ourselves first. Once we are happy with the results we will then start migrating client’s one at a time to the new Hosted Email infrastructure. Important to note during the initial build and setup of the new Hosted Exchange infrastructure there will be no impact to you. Some clients have macros, add on’s etc. as part of Outlook and hence you will still be able to continue to use the version of Outlook that is installed on your Hosted Desktop with one exception, Outlook 2007. The latest version of Microsoft Hosted Exchange, 2016, will no longer support Outlook 2007. There are very few clients that use Outlook 2007, however, if you do the i-worx team will contact you in the months to come to plan to upgrade. Some of the expected benefits of upgrading to the Microsoft Exchange 2016 are; faster and enhanced search, improved performance and responsiveness and improved reliability. We will also be upgrading Citrix in the months to come with the expected benefit of enhanced performance.
